4th Mokokchung town inter-ward volleyball tournament kicks off

The 4th Mokokchung Town Inter-Ward Volleyball Tournament commenced on Wednesday at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung. Organized by the Kumlong Sporting Association under the aegis of the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA), the tournament is being held under the theme “Forging Champions”.
The tournament opened with a match between Kichutip Ward and Penli Ward, where Kichutip secured a convincing victory in straight sets, 25–10 and 25–17.
A brief inaugural programme marked the opening of the tournament, with chairman of Mokokchung Municipal Council, Imkongchuba, gracing the occasion as the guest of honor. In his address, Imkongchuba expressed his privilege and honor in being part of the fourth edition of the inter-ward tournament.
He lauded the efforts of the Kumlong Sporting Association for consistently organizing the event, which he described as a valuable platform for sports enthusiasts in Mokokchung Town.
Highlighting the deeper significance of sports, the chairman remarked, “When one steps onto the court, we are not only playing to score a point or a match, we are showing who we are, what we stand for, and what values guide our lives.” He emphasized that true sportsmanship is reflected not only during the game but also in one’s conduct off the court, urging players to embody discipline, humility and respect.
