Five centres namely Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR), Eden Medical Centre, Shalom Home, DTC, NCD Clinic and Tobacco Control Cell (TCC) District Hospital Dimapur would be tobacco cessation program in Dimapur.
This was informed by DNO NTCP, Dr C Tetseo, during a review meeting cum orientation on tobacco cessation for counsellors on August 18 at District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC).
Dr C Tetseo stated that counselling was the most important component of tobacco cessation program and the facility was now available in the centres. He asked tobacco users, who want to quit, to avail the service.
He also informed that for those who need substitutes, DTCC was also providing nicotine gum and patch free of cost.
Dr C. Tetseo also appreciated CIHSR, Eden Medical Centre and Shalom Home for taking up the additional responsibility saying, it speaks volume about their commitment towards improving public health.
The meeting was attended by counsellors from CIHSR, Eden Medical Centre, Shalom Home, DTC, NCD Clinic and TCC District Hospital Dimapur.
