
Union Education ministry will sanction five more hostels for polytechnic institutes in the State and also upgrade laboratories and IT equipments in all of them.
Conveying this to a PDA delegation that called on All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) chairman Dr Anil Sahasrabudhe at AICTE office in New Delhi on Monday, ministry officials however set a condition that proposals (DPR) in this regard must be submitted to the ministry within 15 days.
On setting up National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR) in the State, Sahasrabudhe agreed to send a recommendation to the education ministry in this regard. During the meeting with the AICTE chairman and education ministry officials, the delegation highlighted activities of the State’s higher & technical education department, requirements and problems of the State and appealed to the ministry for consideration of the State’s proposal and any other scheme under the ministry not availed by the State.
AICTE vice-chairman MP Poonia, member secretary Rajive Kumar and other senior education ministry officials were also present at the meeting.
The PDA delegation comprised higher education & tribal affairs minister and State BJP president Temjen Imna Along, housing & mech minister Tongpang Ozukum and higher & technical education and election adviser Medo Yokha.
