54 young players trained at Kohima Table Tennis camp

KOHIMA, JUL 21 (NPN): The Kohima District Table Tennis Association (KDTTA) has successfully concluded its Free Table Tennis Coaching Camp, held from July 14 to 21 at the Kohima Indoor Table Tennis Stadium. A total of 54 young students from various schools across Kohima district enthusiastically participated in the week-long programme, which aimed at promoting grassroots sports and nurturing future talent.
Table tennis, widely regarded as a lifelong sport, was highlighted during the camp for its role in enhancing physical fitness, mental alertness, quick reflexes, discipline and concentration. Beyond recreation and competition, the sport has also opened avenues for employment under the sports quota in government institutions and provided opportunities for athletes to represent Nagaland and India at national and international levels.
The Association expressed profound appreciation to National Institute of Sports (NIS) Certified Coach, Imomcha Singh, whose professional expertise and patient guidance enriched the learning experience of the participants. His commitment to nurturing young talent and imparting sound technical fundamentals was pivotal to the camp’s success. KDTTA also extended gratitude to the Office of the Accountant General (Audit), Nagaland, for deputing Singh, reflecting its commitment to youth development and sports promotion. Acknowledgment was further given to the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland, for permitting the free use of the Kohima Indoor Table Tennis Stadium, which provided an excellent venue for the camp. The Association also appreciated the generous free-will contributions from the Nagaland Table Tennis Association, parents, senior players, friends and well-wishers, which enabled daily refreshments and lunch for all participants.
Special recognition was accorded to senior players of the Association who voluntarily served as assistant coaches, mentoring younger participants, demonstrating techniques and ensuring smooth daily activities. Their dedication exemplified true sportsmanship and leadership. The camp concluded with friendly competitions among participants, allowing them to showcase the skills and confidence gained during the training. KDTTA congratulated all participants for their enthusiasm, discipline and sporting spirit, encouraging them to continue pursuing excellence in the sport.
Reaffirming its commitment to grassroots development, the Association stated that it looks forward to continued support from government departments, educational institutions, parents and the sporting fraternity in building a stronger sporting culture and producing future champions for Nagaland.
