54th Tenyidie annual seminar commences in Kohima

A two-day 54th Tenyidie annual seminar under the theme, “Language: The root of Our existence” commenced Thursday at Ura Academy, Kohima. Addressing the gathering as the speaker, Dr. Visier Sanyü asserted the importance of language in building a nation and preserving a nation’s heritage. He deliberated on the intricate relationship between language and national identity.


Applauding Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, president of Ura Academy, for keeping Tenyidie alive, Dr. Sanyü said, “If language is the foundation of building a nation, then Tenyidie also should be the foundation of building a stronger Tenyimia community.”


Speaking as guest of honour, Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president, Vezuhu Keyho, asserted the need for more unity, love and respect among Tenyimias. He underscored the importance of such meetings and conferences for better understanding and cooperation.
Keyho also highlighted the need to resolve the dispute over traditional land at Kezoltsa to usher in peace and harmony.


During the programme, an invocation was said by Rev. Akha Supao, a welcome address by Dr. D Kuolie, benediction by Keviya Dzüvichü and controller of examination, Ira Academy Dr. Metuo Liezietsu gave away excellence awards.


The following are the awards and recipients; Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire Angami Award 2024 and Rüzhükhrie Sekhose Award 2024 to Mengunuo Zatsu of Northfield Khikha, Kohima and Khriesanuo Zhale of Mezhür Higher Secondary School, Kohima, respectively, the highest mark in Tenyidie (MIL) HSSLC 2024; Nini Vinguriaü Lungalang Award 2024 to Kechanei Houzha from Northfield Khikha, Kohima, the highest mark Music HSSLC 2024; A. Kevichüsa Award 2024 to Kikrusenuo Sirie of Oriental College, Kohima, the highest mark in BA (Tenyidie honours) Nagaland University 2024 examinations. Two books were released during the program. The afternoon session included several competitions.
