55 Cuban, Venezuelan troops killed in US raid

CARACAS, JAN 6 (AGENCIES)

At least 55 Cuban and Venezuelan military personnel were killed in a surprise US raid on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s residence in Caracas on January 3, reports said. Cuban authorities confirmed 32 soldiers dead, including three senior interior ministry officers. The Venezuelan military reported 23 fatalities, among them five admirals. The attack involved bombing and a seizure of the leader.
