The 57th Naga Students’ Union Delhi (NSUD) annual sports week that began on March 13 under the theme, “Beyond Boundaries: Embracing diversity through sports”, culminated on March 16. The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze member Lok Sabha Outer Manipur, Sapu Battacharyya, Director of NEC Energy Pvt. Ltd and Hibu Tamang, joint CP Security as the guest of honors, while president Delhi Soccer Association cum co-founder Sudeva Football Academy, Anuj Gupta and founder and CEO of Electric One, Amit Das were the special invitees.
Dr. Lorho S Phoze while delivering his speech quoted Jeremiah 29: 11 and expounded the verse saying each individual needs to have plans that is perfect, plans that is not diluted, plans that will not divert, plans in which unity have faith further adding that faith and faith alone will be able to lead them to be able to fulfil the plan that God has for them.
Dr. Phoze said that each individual has their own plans but it was the plan of God, if they seek diligently, they will find it and that when God has plan for them, He will never fail them. He stated that they’ll prosper, they’ll become great, they’ll be something that will continue to build their image and future and God will be able to make them a vibrant person and incredible person, a person that is a masterpiece of the Lord.
In his address, the guest of honor Sapu Battacharyya, emphasized on the importance of unity, highlighting the shared identity of being from the Northeast region. He urged everyone to transcend regional boundaries and foster a sense of solidarity.
Hibu Tamang while delivering his speech recalled his past experiences adding that he had seen the Naga students were very organised, they were energetic, take things seriously and they take a lot of interest organising any kind of event.
He lauded the officials for their constant dedication and that the theme of the sports was very relevant to them because sports have no barriers. While delivering the welcome address, president NSUD, Yaorei Horam celebrated the day’s athletic achievements while emphasizing the unity and resilience displayed by each athlete.
He emphasized NSUD’s role beyond sports, supporting academic excellence and cultural enrichment for the Naga community. Earlier, the closing ceremony was hosted by finance secretary NSUD Adeo Dozo, opening prayer by Pelevito Patrick Kipfe SJ, specials songs were presented by Gifty Shohe and Joanna Jamang while vote of thanks was proposed by general secretary NSUD Jepi Y. Chisho and concluded with a prayer offered by Youth Pastor Ao Church Delhi, Imkongwati.
