5th Hornbill Festival shooting competition promotes sporting spirit in Nagaland

DIMAPUR, DEC 6 (NPN)

The 5th Hornbill Festival Shooting Competition was held on December 4 and 5, at the Temjen Toys Indoor Shooting Range, NSSA, Multi-Disciplinary Sports Complex, Duncan, Dimapur. The event was organized in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland, as part of the Hornbill Festival celebrations.
In 10M Air Pistol (Men’s Open), Neizho Belho bagged the first place with a total score of 363/400; 2nd place by Israel G. Xuivi with 344/400 total score; and Vikou secured the third place with 311/400.
In the 10M Air Pistol (Women’s Open), the first place was bagged by Khrieketounuo Belho with total score of 331/400; 2nd place by Gemdynaro with 268/400; and 3rd place by Mariam with 253/400.
The competition was aimed at promoting shooting sports as a discipline in Nagaland, providing a professional platform for local shooters and integrating sports into the Hornbill Festival to enhance tourism and youth engagement. Participants included boys and girls across youth, junior and senior categories, as well as men and women shooters. The event also welcomed new entrants introduced through the Hornbill Festival outreach initiative.
Athletes from various districts of the state took part with great enthusiasm, reflecting the growing interest in shooting sports among the youth and the wider community.
