DIMAPUR, JUN 19 (NPN): The 5th Pre-State Nagaland Shooting Championship 2026 in Small Bore Rifle and Pistol concluded on June 19 at the Aries Sports Complex Shooting Ranges, Bamunpukhuri-I, Dimapur and Ladybird School Shooting Academy, Mokokchung. The event was organized by the Aries Rifle and Pistol Shooting Academy (ARAPSA), Khelo India Centre, Dimapu, and conducted by the Nagaland Rifle Association (NRA).
A total of 80 shooters, 15 women and 65 men competed across 36 categories in disciplines including 10m Air Rifle, 10m Air Pistol, 25m Standard Pistol, .32 Centre Fire Pistol and 50m Rifle events.
In the 10m Air Rifle Bench Rest A Men, Vitova Wotsa (ARAPSA) secured first place with a score of 191, followed by Repatemsu Imchen (LBSSA) and Kekhriengulie Suokhrie (ARAPSA).
The 10m Air Rifle Bench Rest Women saw Withuile Zeliang (ARAPSA) clinch gold with 185 points, while Tiasen Lemtur (LBSSA) and Lia Jamir (ARAPSA) finished second and third respectively.
In the 10m Air Pistol Bench Rest Men, Jongshilong Aier (LBSSA) topped with 173 points, ahead of Harshvardhan Sethi (ARAPSA) and Merangnori Longchari (ARAPSA).
The Sub Youth categories witnessed strong performances, with Akumzulu B. Imsung (LBSSA) scoring 373 to lead the 10m Air Rifle Sub Youth Men, while Imdangjungla Lemtur (LBSSA) dominated the Women’s Sub Youth Rifle with 369 points.
In the Youth division, Henchoi Noklang (ARAPSA) won the men’s rifle event, and Bendangienla (SSA) secured the women’s rifle title. The Junior Men’s Rifle was led by Merentsungba (ARAPSA) with 381 points, while Kevikie-U (KDSA) claimed the Junior Women’s Pistol crown.
Among seniors, Japuto Y. Zhimo (ARAPSA) emerged victorious in the 10m Air Rifle Men’s category with 374 points, while Khrieketounuo Belho (KDSA) excelled in both 10m Air Rifle Women and 10m Air Pistol Women events.
In the Master categories, Vikuo Metha (ARAPSA) won the 10m Air Pistol Master Men and Chizou Sorhienuo (ARAPSA) topped the Senior Master Women Rifle event.
The 50m Rifle Prone Men saw Japuto Y. Zhimo (ARAPSA) secure first place, while Yimyakumla (ARAPSA) led the Youth Women’s Prone Rifle.
The championship showcased emerging talents from across Nagaland, with shooters from ARAPSA, LBSSA, KDSA, SSA and PDSA displaying remarkable skill and determination.
