Six best performing districts from Nagaland on Monday received awards under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) at the state level felicitation programme in commemoration of Swachhata Hi Seva 2023. Best performing villages under Swachh Bharat Mission Gamin (SBMG) were also awarded at the programme held at Iwu-Shi garden, Nagarjan, Dimapur.
Wokha district bagged two awards- highest percentage of Har Ghar Jal villages and handing over Har Ghar Jal certified schemes to village WATSAN committees as on September 2023-2024.
Mon also bagged two awards- total functional household tap connection (FHTC) coverage 2023-24 and women trained for field test kit testing.
Mokokchung received the award for reporting the highest percentage of field test kit and law water testing. Dimapur rural (Niuland district) for handing over Har Ghar Jal certificated schemes to village WATSAN committees on September 2023-24.
Teunsang received the award for highest percentage of Har Ghar Jal villages certificated as on September 2023 and Kohima (Tsmeinyu district) for highest percentage of functional household tap connection coverage for 2023-24. Best performing villages under SBMG was awarded to Kuda, Kiyeto, Ghokito, Tethuyu, Tsepphenyu New, Kohima Village, Yachem, Yaongyimti New, Longtig, Khulazu Bawe, Chungtor, Dan, Wapher, Yanpha, Shevishe and Nsong.
The event was graced by minister of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Jacob Zhimomi as special guest. In his speech, Jacob reminded the gathering on the importance of cleanliness and said as responsible citizen it was everyone responsibility to maintain cleanliness.
He said good roadways, airports and shopping malls were all part of development but maintaining hygiene and keeping the surroundings clean was part of human development
“Development was not just about good buildings, roads and highways. But healthy hygiene, save practices, save sanitation, keeping environment clean and living in an environmental friendly life is also one of the parameter to call developed society”, Jacob said.
The minister also congratulated the awardees and acknowledged the administration of Dimapur, Nuiland and Chumoukediam for their contribution in taking the mission forward.
At the programme, keynote address was delivered by superintending engineer, Dimapur circle Er Gwatilo Tep where he briefed about the activities carried out by the department in coordination with the administration and various organizations.
The programme was chaired by executive engineer, Dimapur Urban Er Bendangtola Walling, welcome address by PHED principal secretary E Mhonbemo Patton and special number was presented by Limekua.
Later, vote of thanks was delivered by Superintending engineer, Kohima circle Er Vikeduolie.
