Six people have been arrested on December 1, on charges of assault against one Dr. Angukato, a resident of Pudampukhri, by a group of non-Nagas.
When contacted PRO, Dimapur Police said six people had been arrested so far. No further details could be ascertained.
NCD condemns: Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has strongly condemned the unacceptable behaviour meted out to Dr Angukato by a group of immigrants, at Pudampukhri Dimapur on November 30 night. NCD said Dr Angukato was allegedly tied up and beaten by the group.
In a statement, NCD general secretary Thsapongkyu Sangtam expressed grave concern that “such gruesome and shocking crime had been committed in the city by non-locals”.
The council said it was also alarmed at witnessing “Dimapur turning into a prime city for criminal-minded people from outside the state, especially illegal Bangladeshi immigrants who carry out their criminal activities.”
NCD said it underscored “the complete lack of safety even in our homes and on the streets from these criminal goons.”
NCD urged the law-enforcing bodies to leave no stone unturned in arresting the remaining culprits at the earliest and award befitting punishment to the accused as per the law and “bring Justice and relief to the injured family and to the denizen of Dimapur to have a peaceful atmosphere at this festive season”.
