Concerned about the increase in dengue cases, six legislators of Mon district visited District Hospital, Mon (DHM) on Wednesday. The MLAs included adviser K Kongam Konyak, adviser W Chingang Konyak,Mankhao Konyak, Manpon Konyak, A Nyamnyei Konyak and Naiba Konyak.
In a press note, media officer of NHM Mon, Leeyan Chemshy said that the main purpose of their visit was to know the management system, the requirements of the hospital and what more needed to be done to tackle the situation. A meeting was held at the office of Mon medical superintendent where Kongam highlighted the purpose of their visit. He appreciated the medical establishment for proper handling of cases so far and presented Rs one lakh to DHM on behalf of Mon legislators for patient welfare
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mon Dr Vezokholu Theyo and medical superintendent (MS) Dr Mereninla Senlem briefed the legislators about the current dengue scenario at the hospital and the district.
The meeting was attended by officials of various government departments, Konyak Union and political leaders.
After thorough deliberations, the problems, requirements and the various issues were listed and it was agreed to implement/resolve them as early as possible.
As the disease was preventable, the meeting stressed on preventive actions and it was agreed that awareness initiatives should be implemented in all blocks before the cases reach interior villages.
The meeting also agreed that cleanliness drives should be initiated by the district administration in all the wards.
The visiting legislators asked the department concerned to list out all the requirements of the district and the hospital so that they could facilitate their early redressal.
