62nd Nagaland Statehood Day: Gov calls for peace, unity and inclusive growth

DIMAPUR, NOV 30 (NPN)

Nagaland governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla stressed the need to reaffirm commitment to peace, development and unity, stating that the government remained focused on inclusive growth, improved connectivity, transparent governance and creating opportunities for all citizens, whether in rural or urban areas.
Stating that Nagaland stood at a significant juncture in its journey, Bhalla said sustained peace, cooperation and dialogue were essential for realising collective aspirations for lasting progress. He called on the people to move forward with renewed purpose—embracing innovation while safeguarding cultural identity and strengthening unity.
In his message on the eve of the 62nd Statehood Day, the governor extended greetings to the people of Nagaland and paid tribute to the pioneers whose sacrifices led to the State’s formation as the 16th State of the Indian Union. He said Statehood Day was a moment of reflection on Nagaland’s remarkable journey since December 1, 1963.
Bhalla acknowledged the advancements made over the decades in governance, infrastructure, education, healthcare and cultural preservation. He said Naga youth were excelling in academics, sports, entrepreneurship and the creative arts, bringing recognition to the State. He also praised farmers, artisans and community leaders for upholding values of hard work, harmony and social responsibility.
The governor highlighted Nagaland’s cultural richness, describing its diverse tribes, traditions and languages as a testament to its vibrancy and resilience. He said the strength of the State lay in the harmony and mutual respect shared among its many tribes.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development, Bhalla said efforts would continue to ensure that progress reached every citizen, including those in remote areas.
Calling upon citizens to honour the past while looking ahead with determination, Bhalla said it was a collective responsibility to nurture peace, promote sustainable growth, empower youth and preserve traditions. He urged the people to work together to build an inclusive, just and prosperous State.
Concluding his message, the governor expressed confidence that the spirit of harmony would continue to guide Nagaland’s path forward. He wished the people well on the occasion of Statehood Day and prayed for peace and prosperity in the State.
