KOHIMA, SEP 12 (NPN): The 6th edition of the Kohima Inter-Departmental Badminton Tournament, organised by the Inter Department Badminton Club (IDBC), Kohima, culminated on Saturday at Multipurpose Hall (NLA) Stadium, after two days of competition involving 78 teams from various government departments and well-wishers.
The tournament featured four categories, including 50+ retirees, legislators and former legislators, mixed doubles, women’s doubles and men’s doubles. The event was supported by Special Officer to the Chief Minister Neibalie Rio, State Bank of India (SBI), Toyota and Urban Bay Sports, Kohima.
In the 50+ category for retirees, legislators and former legislators, the Department of Treasuries and Accounts pairing of Temsu Longkumer and I. Aochuba Pongener emerged winners, while M. Rhovisie Nyuwi and Uniel Kichu of the Police Department finished runners-up.
In the mixed doubles category, Uma Tamang and Lamtingmang of the Police Department secured the title, with Vikosieto Krose and Nchibamneu of the Department of Economics and Statistics finishing runners-up.
The women’s doubles title was claimed by Ruokuotuonuo Rame and Repayangla Tzudir of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, while Khosalu Keyho and Nuvetalu Thirah of the Department of Health and Family Welfare were the runners-up.
In the men’s doubles category, Kezhalezo Solo and Kevingulie Sote of the Department of School Education emerged champions. Solomon C. Anar and Immanuel Shohe of the Police Department finished runners-up.
The two-day tournament brought together participants from different departments, providing an opportunity for inter-departmental sporting interaction and competition.
