Eight Naga officials working for Oil India Ltd (OIL) and posted at Duliajan, Assam have called for resuming oil exploration in Nagaland.
In a joint statement, OIL GM (HR Learning) MA Niphi; GM (Drilling Services) Benjamin Jamio; DGM (Field Eng) Moakumzuk Ao; DGM (Field Comm) Temjenmongba Jamir; DGM (Well Logging) Benthungo Ngullie; chief manager (Security) Nchum Ngullie; deputy chief chemist Lanuwabang Jamir and deputy CE (Well Logging) Avi Richa stressed that the present and future generations should not be deprived anymore of the economic benefits that could accrue if oil exploration is resumed.
Having listed the technical constraints, geological possibilities, economic prospects, and social imperatives for oil exploration, they stressed that it was the responsibility of every right and forward-thinking Naga to be aware of the position. They called for collectively building up a consensus and support the state government to take urgent steps in this direction.
