Eight series of “Naga Writer’s Speak” was held on November 1 at Kohima College, Kohima, wherein writers spoke on the theme, “Writing social issues in fiction”. At the event, guest speaker, head of the department of functional English at Kohima College, assistant professor Dr. Neikehienuo Mepfhü-o delivered an insightful talk about how Nagas have been using various literary forms, including poetry, novels, short stories, and even dissertation writing, to explore different facets of their own culture. She emphasized the significance of literature as a powerful tool for delving into and addressing social issues.
Sharing her experiences, Dr. Mepfhü-o explained that her work was often rooted in real-life stories, documenting the lived experiences of people. She showcased the power of literature in shedding light on various social concerns and driving meaningful change in society.
The event was chaired by assistant professor, department of English at Kohima College, Limayangla Pongener while associate professor and head of the department of English, Megovono Üsou provided valuable insights into the origins of the “Naga Writer’s Speak” series, which aims to offer opportunities and a platform for local writers to share their creative works. The program concluded with an engaging question and answer session.
