
A legal aid cell has been initiated for the inmates of district jail Mokokchung under the aegis of Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA) on September 1.
The programme was chaired by advocate penal member, Moatemjen, while the introduction was given by principal district & session judge Mokokchung and chairman MDLSA Khape Koza.
The program also witnessed the presentation of a special song by inmates of the jail. In legal aid clinic, retainer lawyer MDLSA I. Imkong Jamir, shared on the topic “rights of prisoners and basic rights” while vote of thanks was delivered by superintendant of Jail Mokokchung, Imtiangshi.
The programme was attended by officials from district administration, public prosecutors, penal lawyers, jail staff and inmates.
Meanwhile, the results for essay competition conducted by MDLSA on the topic “importance of fundamental rights and duties” on August 27 has been declared with Moajungla Town HSS, Akumsenla FAC and Akumsunep Longchar JMC securing the first, second and third positions respectively.
