
Excise Department Dimapur organised a farewell programme for its outgoing deputy commissioner Lanuwati Jamir Wednesday here at Conference Hall, Office of the Commissioner of Excise.
Speaking on the occasion, Jamir, who was retiring after serving the department for 35 years, thanked his colleagues and staff for their support.
While recounting his experiences from the day he joined the department back in 1981, Jamir said he faced many challenges but never surrendered.
He urged upon the staff to love, respect, bear, unite, reconcile, and respect one another in order to achieve the department’s goal.
“Have confidence in each other to achieve the goals,” he stated. On life after retirement, Jamir remarked that retirement was not the end of journey.
“Retirement opens a new chapter, a new life- it is a new assignment to serve the people, church, and the society,” Jamir said. Asserting that Excise department was the “prohibition department,” he likened the excise personnel to “missionaries” and encouraged them to work together towards making Nagaland a drugs/alcohol free state.
Known for his punctuality and discipline among the staff, the outgoing dy commissioner handed over a wall clock to the commissioner as a farewell gift to the department.
Jamir also awarded gifts to three staff in recognition of their commitment towards the department. Also speaking on the occasion, commissioner of excise remarked that Jamir was an “indispensible” asset to the department.
Officials of the department also spoke at the farewell programme.
Earlier, the function was chaired by asst commissioner of Excise (Adm) Imkong K Jamir while Bible reading and prayer was rendered by Pastor DABA, Lima Jamir.
