Three serving women police personnel in the rank of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) have instituted writ petitions in the Guahati High Court (GHC) “challenging for non promotion to the rank of UBSI and for illegally promoting/appointing and recruiting” 60 UBSI and two ASI in the police establishment.
In this regard, the Guahati High Court, Kohima bench has issued orders asking all the respondents to appear in the court in person or by a pleader duly instructed and able to answer all materials questions relating to the writ petition on October 3, 2016 without fail. The order further stated that if the respondents fail to appear before the court, “the writ petition shall be heard and determined” in their absence. (See Advt on p-4)
Corrigendum
Apropos ‘Deadlines served on state govt expire’ that appeared in the August 30 issue, the nomenclature of CNTC should be read as Central Nagaland Tribes Council and not as rendered. It may be mentioned that CNTC had issued a 30-day deadline with effect from July 30, 2016 demanding that the indigenous tribe status granted to the Rongmeis be revoked. It further resolved and demanded that the endorsement submitted by the Naga Hoho on the September 22, 2008 be withdrawn.
