
Vocational training programme on skill upgradation and income generating activities for rural farmers was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kohima at Tsiesema village on August 25-27. The programme was sponsored by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Kohima.
The resource persons for the trainings were scientists representing KVK, Kohima, K. Michael Pienyu (plant protection), Zhiete (soil conservation), Imtisenal (Agronomy), Khekali Sema (Horticulture), Keviyieno Sahu (Home science) and Longma Yanger (extension).
The topics covered during the training were vermin culture for sustainable agriculture, rodent management, improved methods of farming winter crops, cultivation practices of winter vegetables, insect pest management of field crops and horticulture crops, importance of soil liming, resource management and preparation of squash, jam and pickle.
The programme was attended by 42 farmers. Meanwhile, KVK Kohima extended its gratitude to DAO (Agri) & PD, ATMA, Kohima for sponsoring the programme.
