Police Headquarters (PHQ), Kohima based cyber crime police station, which was established recently, has informed that in the past two weeks, at least six mobile phones have been recovered based on complaints received from the public.
With mobile loss or theft fast becoming a regular affair owing to the increasing penetration of Information Technology into the society, the Nagaland police have cautioned against receiving/buying or using stolen mobile phones, which is an offence under the Indian Penal Code, let alone stealing of them, stated a DIPR report.
According to Nagaland Police PRO, M.Tungoe, for any assistance regarding lost/stolen mobile phones, the public could contact 09485239076 /07085377565 or email nagalandpolice16@gmail.com or www.facebook.com/Nagalandpolice with their IMEI number or last used phone number for recovery.
Further, police have advised the public to note down their IMEI numbers and keep them some place safe. The IMEI number could be obtained through the following ways:
Type in the short code *#06# on your mobile phone and press the call key. Remove the battery from mobile phone and look for the code on the back of device. Check the purchase receipt or warranty paper or the box containing the device.
