NGRC-1CU urges CM to promote quality work

Nagaland Government Registered Class-1 Contractors’ Union (NGRC-1CU) on Tuesday while congratulating the state chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, urged him to promote quality work by checking the contractors and the concerned executing departments.
The union which held its first executive meeting 2018 on Tuesday also congratulated the new PDA government and expressed the hope that it would be people-friendly and would run the state of affairs as a true welfare state and take the state forward in all areas.
In a press release, NGRC-1CU president, Seyiekuolie, and vice president, S Bendang Jamir, also appealed to the present government not to entertain deduction of various commissions, party fund, etc from project fund. They added that huge rate of GST was also looting the project.
The union asserted that the state government must strictly follow the open tender process so as to award the works to a competent contractor.
In order to check bogus contractors, the union requested all the government departments to furnish the names of firm and contractors, name of the project and the ongoing work progress to the union office.
While awarding works to contractors, the union appealed the present government to give preferences to the local contractors.
Further, the union maintained that landowners should not disturb or stop the ongoing project so as to complete the project on time.
NGRC-1CU reminded that the contractors were getting works by going through open tender selection, various bidding, machinery requirements, etc. They pointed out that no individual would be awarded contract work just because he or she was landowner. “If we want development then no land owner should disturb the works which was already awarded to contractor be construction or supplies,” NGRC-1CU stated.
