
The newly constructed Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) office -cum-commercial building was inaugurated at Nyamo Lotha road, Dimapur on Wednesday, after a dedicatory prayer and unveiling of the monolith by senior pastor Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church, Rev. S. Vitoshe Swu.
NCD general secretary, Thsapongkyu Sangtam, who presented a brief report on the building, said that the total cost of the project was Rs. 2.26 crores. The foundation stone was laid on October 17, 2016.
He said that the project for the Naga Council office building was necessitated taking into consideration the expiry of the old building’s life span and safety concerns. The report mentioned that the old building was dismantled under advisement from expert technical housing engineers.
Thereafter, Naga Council Building Project was initiated in 2006 and a comprehensive project proposal for the construction was submitted to HUDCO, with the state government as the guarantor. However, the project proposal was rejected by HUDCO, the report said.
Later, the project was revived IN 2015 under the present NCD president T. Bangerloba and executive members. The building project was finally approved by the “general councillor” at the meeting held on June 16, 2016 and after preparing a detailed project report, the work was allotted to M/S. D.P. Angami and Sons on October 8, 2016, the report said.
At the dedicatory programme held at the Naga Council conference hall, short speeches were delivered by NCD president T. Bangerloba, Lotha Hoho Dimapur chairman, Etsungmomo Kikon, Western Chakhesang Hoho Dimapur president, Vekhosayi Nyekha and ENPUD president, Ongbo Chang.
The programme was chaired by NCD vice president (admn) K. Ghokheto Chophy.
