Nagaland Press Association (NPA) Wednesday urged the state government to enhance the number of accredited journalists and also notify the enhancement of the operational subsidy of the accredited journalists.
In a press release, NPA said this was resolved at a coordination meeting with the press clubs of Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung on March 28, 2018 at Press Point, Dimapur. The meeting deliberated various issues confronting the press fraternity and stressed on strengthening the association with the inclusion of more working journalists from the state.
They also demanded that the government soon convene a meeting of the accreditation committee and clear the pending applications at the earliest so journalists were benefited.
It further demanded the government implement Pension and Health Schemes for the Working Journalists in consonance with the schemes being implemented in other states of the country.
Meanwhile, the NPA said that its membership drive would begin from April 1 to June 30, 2018. It stated that journalists working in the state with one year experience were eligible for membership.
NPA requested press clubs of Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung to encourage its members to join the association. For membership forms, working journalists in Kohima, Mokokchung and Dimapur can contact their respective press clubs while journalists from other districts can contact NPA.
