Minister for Higher & Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along inaugurated Government Polytechnic Seithekema here on Monday at Seithekema ‘C’.
Calling it a historical day in the technical chapter of Nagaland, Temjen Imna Along stressed on the importance of educating Naga students on technical aspects as it will pave the way for more employment.
He said that employment of our own Naga brothers and sisters was an important issue that needs to be addressed.
“Non locals are more efficient in work as they are well educated in technical tools. In future, if our young brothers and sisters are technically sound, we could employ more Nagas”, he added.
Temjen, on behalf of the Chief Minister, extended best wishes to the Polytechnic department and the village council adding that the People’s Democratic Alliance will surely “Strike For Change”.
He also said that the National government’s “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas (Collective Efforts, Inclusive Growth)” led by the Prime Minister, Narender Modi, was implemented to march towards development.
To this end, BJP and NDPP formed the government in Nagaland so that the state could also join in on the progress towards development. According to him, the People’s Democratic Alliance “does not have any agendas to go against the religion or church.”
The government is for the public, the Naga people and the citizens of Nagaland, added Imna.
He said that the government polytechnic will benefit not only the present, but the future generations. He called upon the people to make the new institution a success.
Lamenting encroachments on government land, he urged the people and the council to protect the 30 acres of the department for developmental projects. The minister was of the opinion that the land owner issue was the most significant problem in Nagaland. Therefore he called upon the people to learn what is important for the future of the upcoming generation.
Temjen Imna Along also inaugurated the government polytechnic building and unveiled the building monolith.
While delivering her opening remark, commissioner & secretary, department of higher and technical education, Dellirose M.Sakhrie (IAS) said that in India polytechnic constitutes a very important segment of technical education.
She also said that technical education consumes significantly socio and economic development of the country.
She informed the gathering that with the opening of the polytechnic it would provide skilled manpower for many sectors.
She also mentioned that the institute would provide three year diploma courses in various disciplines, however the government polytechnic would provide only one course of civil engineering which will be followed by other sectors.
Dellirose also said that the first batch of civil engineering would start from July, 2018.
The programme was chaired by director, technical education, Er Arjun Singh, while God’s blessing was invoked by pastor, CRC Seithekema Dimapur.
Welcome address was delivered by principal government polytechnic Seithekema, Athalie Dolie, short speech by GB Seithekema ‘C’ village council and vote of thanks was proposed by project director, technical education, Tiakaba Amer.
Minister, Temjen Imna Along was accompanied by chairman MARCOFED, Dr. Chuba Ao and party workers.
