BJP Minister of higher education and technical education Temjen Imna Along urged party members to be the keepers of the people’s destinations so that the party may reach the masses and fulfil the people’s expectations. He said this while addressing a gathering during the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 38th Foundation Day observance organized by BJP Nagaland and held at BJP HQ Kohima Nagaland on Friday.
Minister Along said the foundation day should remind them to work with more dedication and stand by the party’s principles of anti-corruption and national integration to develop and prosper the nation. He took the example of a foundation stone and how it had to be laid right and proper for the structural integrity of the entire building. He also recalled the contributions of past BJP leaders for the nation and its citizens. He expressed his gratitude to party men and the electorate for electing him and other BJP representatives, during a period of tribulation, to serve the people of the state.
The minister challenged party members to make sure that the next foundation day was celebrated with a feeling of satisfaction over many more achievements. He urged the party workers to build trust in the image of the party with hard work because it was misunderstood by many people as evidenced during the last election.
Former state BJP president and chairman MARCOFED Nagaland Dr. M. Chuba Ao, in his address, explained in detail the genesis and concept of the BJP party and its ideology of nationalism and how it was different as a political party from religion and beliefs. He urged the party men to support the legislators for good governance in the state.
Convener, media cell, K. James Vizo in his address urged the party men to learn the party’s ideology and background to avoid misguiding others and creating misinformation. He reminded the gathering that the foundation day was being observed in the state to contribute to the party’s proper foundation as was being done at the national level. On the allegation of the BJP party having a hidden agenda, he strongly reiterated that there was no such ‘agenda’ speaking from his 18 years of experience working for the party. “If there were any such thing, I would be the first person to protest it”, Vizo said.
Vizo dwelt for a while on the five main objectives of the party like nationalism and national integration, commitment to democracy, Gandhi’s nationalism, positive secularism and value based politics. He also challenged the gathering to fulfil the promises in the election manifesto that was released during the election campaign.
The programme was chaired by BJP Nagaland vice-president, Kuputo Shohe, the invocation prayer was said by SABCK Pastor, Himali Kiba, a welcome address was delivered by BJP Nagaland, secretary, Lima Onen Chang, while the vote of thanks was proposed by president Mahila Nagaland, Sano Ngullie. The programme was attended by party workers from various districts of the state.
