TVUMT donates benches and desks to GHSS ‘D’

As a good will gesture and a wakeup call to parents, officers, public leaders and NGOs of Mon Town, the Tobu Village Union Mon Town (TVUMT) on August 16 had donated 6 sets of  bench and desk for the class XI students of GHSS ‘D’ Mon town.
While handing the benches and desks to the GHSS authority, the TVUMT disclosed that, led by SP Mon, Yangba, decided to voluntarily make and donate the furniture after learning of such shortage through one of their children studying at class XI. Pointing out that the students were the future of any society, they said that as parents, it was “our” responsibility to carter to the needs of students.
Meanwhile, Mongyo Konyak while acknowledging and appreciating the kind gesture on behalf of the students’ community and KNSK, lamented that most of the parents, public leaders, officers and Naga national workers were seen only during the time of admission with request to admit their kin and not in time of such needs, which, she said was actually hampering the career of the school children.
The vice principal of GHSS ‘D’ while thanking the TVUMT said that he had never, in his 31 years of service experienced such help and expressed hope that many such donations and contribution made by theTVUMT would set an example to the rest of the community to come forward in lending their helping hands for the welfare of the students.
It may be mentioned that the GHSS ’D’, upgraded last year, had been functioning with just 15 sets of benches and desks, provided by the district administration for 154 students of class XI. Later the school authority adjusted the institutional fund to make another 10 sets of benches and desks.
It is worth mentioning that the TVUMT also donated a bench to the District Hospital Mon. They had also earlier in the month of June 2016, repaired the town road connecting bazaar road to new site V junction, by filling up the potholes.
