KMC asked to continue with open tender system

A joint meeting between the Kohima district administration, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), Kohima Village Youth Organisation and Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries was held at DC’s conference hall on August 16.
According to an official bulletin, the meeting held under the chairmanship of additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi discussed that the tender system for permits for importing essential commodities to the municipal area was not good for the market in particular and the public in general and that it should be done away with.Following the discussions, the KMC was asked to continue with the old system of open tender until a concrete direction is received from the government.
The meeting also decided to write to the government on the issue of tendering of essential commodities in view of the negative impact of tendering of coupons on prices of essential commodities. Further, the meeting decided that traders would inform the administration and police if anybody forced them to buy their coupons and that necessary action would be taken against such perpetrators.
KVYO was requested to keep on hold its proposed actions in view of the positive deliberations.
