Organizations condemn Aug 11 rape incident

In a condemnation note by Kohima Ao Tejongjem (KAT) president Er. Talitba Sanglir and general secretary, Imsunok Jamir stated that the rapist Meyikumzuk Jamir of August 11 incident was neither a permanent resident of Kohima nor a member of KAT and that the union has taken serious note for the audacity of the rapist to drag the name of the Ao community while committing such a heinous crime against a minor. 
While deeply sharing in the pain and humiliation caused to the victim and her family, KAT has also appealed the law enforcing agency to award stringent and befitting punishment to the accused. 
KAT also appealed the victim, her family members and the Khiamniungan community not to let the shameful and inhuman act of an individual come in the way of the age old bond between the two communities. 
KAT would also impose appropriate penalty against the rapist. 
KSUK: Konyak Students’ Union Kohima (KSUK) has strongly condemned the inhuman barbaric rape on a minor girl by Meyikumzuk Jamir on August 11 at Kohima.
In a condemnation note by KSUK president Kaiphak Konyak and assistant general secretary, 
H. Wangpa Konyak stated that such an in-human acts to a minor was totally unacceptable in society and should be condemned by one and all. The union is willing to extend its support towards eradication of such offences and demands action against the accused at the earliest.
KUK: Konyak Union Kohima (KUK) in a condemnation note by KUK president, T. Ngamjok Konyak and press secretary, S. Bongyong Konyak has strongly condemned the unfortunate rape incident, terming the act as inhuman and horrific. KUK appeals the law enforcing agency that the guilty should not be spared but be booked as per the law.
NRSU: Nokhu Range Students’ Union (NRSU) vehemently condemned the vicious act of rape. NRSU vice president Talamong  and NRSU women co-ordinator Chongtin Shiu stated that such anti-social activities and violations of human rights could not be accepted in the Naga society and strongly urged the law enforcing agencies to deliver justice and award befitting punishment and grant not bail against the accused. NRSU shared the deepest sympathy with the victim and her family. 
PRSU: Pathso Range Students’ Union (PRSU) union stated  the beastly act has shattered the victim’s dreams into pieces and inflicted a daunting mental trauma where appeasing a soul meant a thousand miles away for her. PRSU shares the pain and prayed for speedy recovery to the victim. The union urged the law enforcing agency to award a befitting punishment as per the law and invite condemnation from every concern citizen.
KWT: Kohima Watsu Telen (KWT) said such barbaric deeds have no place in a civilized society and the organization appealed to the law enforcing agencies to award a befitting punishment as per the provision of law to the perpetrator of the crime. KWT vice president Chubasangla and KWT general secretary Sashisongla expressed sympathy with the victim, family members and the Khiamniungam community and assured all cooperation towards their quest for justice.
