
On the occasion of Independence day celebration, governor’s “at-home” programme “Azadi 70 years; yaad karo kurbani” ( freedom fortnight activities) was organized by song and drama division, ministry of information and broadcasting government of India regional centre Guwahati held at Durbar hall Raj Bhavan, Kohima on Monday.
The singers from regional centre Guwahati under song and drama division, enthralled the gathering with numbers of songs like Vande Matram (pre independence vision), alok parva Aaya (group song on republic of India), saat behno ki (song of cultural heritage of NE states), Ae mer vatan ke logo ( tribute to martyrs and soldiers) ganatantra hamara (song on azadi-7- independence) and others. The audiences were also mesmerized with the Angami folk and traditional dance, Lotha traditional dance and folk song and Sema harvesting dance.
Senior deputy director, information and broadcasting ministry (song & drama division) Govt. of India Dhruva Awasthy in his welcome address said under information and broadcasting ministry (song & drama division) Govt. of India has 10,000 artistes and light and sound is the biggest unit. He informed that in north east India under this ministry (sound and drama) have two centres at Imphal and Guwahati.
The programme was attended by chief minister T.R. Zeliang, NLA speaker, host of ministers, MLAs, government officials, dignitaries, NGOs, army officers and others.
