FFS launched under IPM at Zuvukhu

Department of Agriculture Dimapur district launched a season long Farmers Field School (FFS) under IPM (RKVY) on Paddy at Zuvukhu village on August 11. 
Resource persons of the launching programme were- DAO Dimapur, Remphamo, DPD (ATMA), Janet Chishi and AFA Chumyani Ovung. 
They explained on integrated approach for pest management and promotion of biological, mechanical and cultural methods of pest control.  Identification and management of major pest such as rice stem borer, rice leaf folder, gall midge, rice case worm and conservation of natural enemies were also deliberated by the resource persons. 
DAO, K. Remphamo Kikon emphasized on minimizing the use of harmful agro-chemicals which in the recent past has given numerous health hazards, pest resurgence, resistance to chemicals, pollution of environment and destabilization of bio-equilibrium. 
In the programme, Agro-Eco-System Analysis (AESA) was also conducted in the paddy field where in harmful and beneficial insects were identified; recorded and possible control measures were drawn followed by released of Tricho-cards in the field. All together Thirty (30) farmers enrolled for FFS.
