East Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (EDSSU) has alleged backdoor appointments of four Land Records & Survey Officer (LRSO) and eight surveyor grade-I under the Land Record and Survey (LR&S) department. In a press release, the EDSSU president Kanato S. Awomi and general secretary Tovi Achumi demanded that the department immediately terminate all those appointed against mentioned posts and send requisition to the NPSC within a month. The union cautioned that failure to terminate those backdoor appointees the union would take its own course of action for which the department would be held solely responsible. EDSSU pointed out that as per replies to its RTI queries four LRSO and eight surveyor grade-I were appointed through backdoor/unfair mean depriving thousands of unemployed Naga youths. In this regard, the EDSSU has also appealed to the ACAUT Nagaland to “support and strengthen our cause for justice.”
