Patton calls for unity to settle Naga issue soon

Nagaland home minister, Y. Patton, on Monday called upon all sections of Naga society and all Naga political groups (NPGs) to unite under one umbrella so as to settle Naga political issue at the earliest.
Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural programme of new office building of NPF Wokha Division near NST colony Wokha town on Monday, the home minister said Naga political deadlock could be settled only through unity.
Pattion said with the presence of eight Naga political groups in the state, people were suffering as they had to pay tax to different groups. Home minister urged upon to all the groups to unite since they were all striving for “one political ideology” that is “sovereignty”.
On the occasion, Patton also advised NPF party officials to practice principle in politics as a norm so as to earn the respect of the people whom they represented.
He also advised the NPF party officials from the division and assembly constituency levels to carefully screen and recommend party tickets to only those leaders who have good grassroots support so they win and eventually add up to the party’s overall tally in the state assembly.
Expressing happiness that NPF Wokha division has got new office building, Patton urged the party functionaries of Wokha district to take care of the building and make best use it.
He thanked the NPF Wokha division party officials for remaining united even during the recent political crisis within the party.
Earlier, Patton hoisted the party flag and cut the ribbons of the new NPF office building after it was dedicated by Lotha Baptist Ekhumkho Sanrhyutsu (LBES) executive secretary Rev. Nyanchumo.
Giving a technical report on the building, NPF Wokha division vice president Yilobemo Humtsoe acknowledged the party president Shürhozelie Liezietsu, the state chief minister T .R.  Zeliang and home minister for their generosity.
Chairing the inaugural programme and delivering welcome address, NPF Wokha division president P. Mhonthung Lotha also thanked NPF president, Dr. Shürhozelie Leizietsu, chief minister T.R. Zeliang, and home minister Yanthungo Patton for their generosity.
Short speeches were also delivered by ex-MLA and former congressman Sulanthung Lotha, former candidate and erstwhile JDU president Mhonjan Humtsoe, NPF central general secretary and Wokha division incharge Renbomo Kikon, and a representative from the NPF women wing central.
NPF Wokha division youth wing presented a special number, and Wokha division NPF press secretary Manthungo Kikon proposed vote of thanks at the programme attended by NPF officials from central, division and assembly constituency levels.
