IAP Nagaland celebrates WBW

Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) Nagaland state branch hosted the celebration of World Breastfeeding Week (WBW August 1 to 7) at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur on August 7 with all major hospitals from town participating. 
The celebration of world breastfeeding week included quiz and discussion hour for nurses and doctors with presentation on “benefits of breastfeeding” by treasurer IAP Nagaland and consultant pediatrician & neonatologist, Zion Hospital & Research Centre, Dr. Akumtoshi followed by presentation by joint secretary IAP Nagaland and consultant pediatrician & neonatologist, Nikos Hospital & Research Centre, Dr. Apong Longchar) on “role of nutrition in digestive comfort in infancy”.
President IAP Nagaland, Dr.Tokuho Chishi gave the welcome address while programme was chaired by general secretary IAP Nagaland, Dr.Wapang Imchen and the interactive session moderated by vice president IAP Nagaland, Dr. Deepak Jain.
The celebration ended with a positive note but stressed on the importance of exclusive breast feeding for at least six months which could reduce infant mortality rate by about 19%.
