AKMWP to be vigilant on government schemes

Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) in its general body meeting has resolved to pursue and be vigilant on central schemes so that the same are implemented.
A press release by AKMWP president, Neibulie Kiewhuo and general secretary, Thejao Sekhose this was resolved in an emergency general body meeting held on July 19 at its office building, Officer Hill, Kohima. The meeting was attended by all the 42 panchayats and sector chairmen under Kohima Municipal Council (KMC).
During the meeting, the house welcomed the launching of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) by the chief minister on June 29 at Dimapur.  It stated that the house deliberated on some important issues which directly involved the panchayats, such as government schemes for providing subsidized loans and allotments of  Basic Service for Urban Poor (BSUP) flats at Kohima, in 3 (three) Complex since 2015 and which ultimately became “forgotten schemes”.
Pointing out the failure of previous schemes, AKMWP stated that it has resolved to pursue the matter tooth and nail this time with concern agencies.
AKMWP stated that the department concerned for the schemes would be wholly answerable for the delay/failure and not the ward panchayat authority. It said ward panchayat have been questioned for every failure of the government and at times even suspected of drawing the money in partnership with the department officials.
Meanwhile, AKMWP on behalf of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat has also extended appreciation to the assistant director and colleague of Food and Civil Supply Kohima for distributing the Primary House Hold (PHH) rations cards for all the 19 Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat in the presence of deputy commissioner and the addtional deputy commissioner Kohima on July 29.
