District Health Society Kiphire held Population Control Fortnight (PCF) under the aegis of directorate of Health & Family Welfare, from July 11 to 24.
During the fortnight, family planning services provided were IUCD and PPIUCD insertions, tubectomy (female sterilization) and distribution of OCP pills and condoms.
IEC activities were also carried out to create awareness and generate demand for family planning services. Distribution of leaflets in local dialects and focus group discussions (FGD) stressing on topics of right age of marriage, spacing at birth and other family planning methods were done.
Prior to the start of population control fortnight, a district task force meeting was also held on July 8 at the DC’s office under the chairmanship of Sedevikho Khro to ensure that the programme was effectively executed.
The programme saw a good turnout with many adopting various family planning methods; 24 female sterilization, 83 IUCD and 12 PPIUCD were done during the fortnight.
