NPCC president urges Congress party workers to remain steadfast

With MLAs elected from Congress party “abandoned the Congress’ principles and ideologies” and “tall leaders of the past are no more with us”, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K. Therie said the remaining party workers are the strength of the party and urged them to remain steadfast.
Therie was addressing the consultative meeting of 2-Dimapur-II Assembly Constituency Congress Committee (ACCC) at conference hall, Congress Bhavan, Dimapur on Saturday.
Pointing out that at present the responsibility on Congress party workers stands “very big”, Therie expressed happiness on meeting the ACCC-“who are the most important workers.”
NPCC president also reminded the party workers that politics was voluntary and appealed them to lead decent lives through which to set an example for others to follow.
The “most important level of organization being the workers”, he stressed on the need to multiply the number of party workers by propagating the Congress’ principles, ideologies and roadmap to the masses.
Reiterating on the open door policy of the Congress, he called upon all to join the political system and become a part of bringing about the desired change by electing a God-fearing government.
On the development front, Therie said everyone was disturbed and claimed that Dimapur today has become like a “slum” where the roads including the National Highway resemble riverbeds and development activities have come to naught.
He said there was “no more reason for the people to vote for the present government” and that every voter must consciously vote and refuse to take bribes during elections as this was the reason why development eludes the state.
NPCC president also said that given opportunity, the Congress would explore ways to open the doors of the banks to the youth of the state to generate entrepreneurship and employment.
Therie also exhorted women to prepare for the imminent Municipal Elections and said that the party would soon have training sessions for aspiring women candidates.
Concluding his speech, Therie urged the party workers to remain steadfast and expressed confidence that the Constituency would be successful in electing a candidate in the next general election.
He urged all rank and files to prayerfully undertake all activities for their success.
NPCC working president, Ayang Aonok in his address led the gathering through a brief historical account on the formation of the political parties in the state and said that although the party has just gone through an “abnormal phase”, there are no longer leadership issues within the party.
He also said that political polarizations would start very soon and such polarizations would not be possible minus the Congress Party which was gaining from strength to strength.
Aonok encouraged all the Congressmen and women to remain diligent and work for the party and expressed confidence that the Constituency would elect a good and capable candidate in the next general election.
Others who addressed the meeting were NPCC general secretary and PCC member from 2-Dimapur-II A/c Jonathan Ao, NPMCC general secretary Sentila, DCC Dimapur president, Kughato S. Aye and  DCC Dimapur vice president Bendangyanger.
The meeting was chaired by 2-Dimapur-II ACCC president, I. Asang Jamir, who also delivered the welcome address, invocation was pronounced by DCC, Dimapur secretary Kekhevi Yepthomi and vote of thanks was proposed by AYC president Jekiho.
