Karbi Anglong District Magistrate (DM) Mukul Gogoi has imposed Section144 CrPC throughout the district in view of deteriorating law and order, an official press release informed on Friday.
Stating that certain NGOs, organizations, groups and sections of people were allegedly extorting money and materials forcibly from the citizens, business institutions and government offices or officials in the name of fund raising, for this Gogoi said that the district administration was compelled to enforce Section 144 CrPC.
DM further said that the district administration has banded any kind of fund raising, extortion in the form of donation or materials by any NGOs, organizations or individual, groups, government offices, officials and business institutions. It also banned individuals from carrying lethal weapons and arms in public places including licensed arms.
