
Under the initiative of Sumi Hoho (SH), the NH-702 between Mokokchung and Zunheboto near Alaphumi village under Akuluto area, which was severely damaged on July 26 by major mudslide, was cleared the next day.
The road served as a major life line as it connects Naltoqa 8 NAP HQ, Suruhuto area and adjoining villages, Akuluto area, Askhuto/Atoizu area and all other routes such as Mokokchung, Wokha, Jorhat, etc and beyond. According to SH source, it deputed its information and publicity secretary, Nitoho Zhimo to supervise the restoration work.
SH deployed excavators and hired manual workers and it took around six hours to clear the road.
HATOA advisory to truckers: Hills Area Truck Owners Association (HATOA) in a notification by its general secretary, Hekato Yeptho has informed truck drivers and owners crossing Alaphu road, that load should not exceed eight tons. The association has also sought state government assistance in maintaining the road.
HATOA also lauded Sumi Hoho for restoring the damaged road. Further, HATOA said Sumi Hoho had also extended help during the recent landslide disaster that occurred between Asukho to Zunheboto.
