Thanksgiving prog by chief angh of Longzang

Thanksgiving and celebration programme was organized by chief angh of Longzang village under Aboi sub-division Mon on the occasion of him being crowned chief angh on May 25, with minister of Rural Development, Rural Employment & Poverty Alleviation, C. L. John as chief guest.
During the programme there were representations from more than fifteen villages and special invitees from Arunachal and Myanmar.
Chief guest during his address mentioned that kingship existed in the world culture from the ancient times, as it has existed in the Konyak tribe even today.
He also related the kingship system (angh system) with the Biblical system of kingship. He also greatly appealed and encouraged the community led by the chief angh that in an Christian era, the angh system and its practices should be influenced by Christian principles; in accordance to the will and teaching of Jesus Christ.
According to the law of angh, the angh and his royal family have the right to levy tax on its citizen, and that the citizen has the duty to pay tax as is required, added the chief guest. Chief guest thus reminded and encouraged the angh (king) to rightfully give ten tithes as offering to the church as was mentioned in the Holy Bible to be observed by believers. He said that this act of being obedient to the teachings of Jesus Christ/Holy Bible would bring prosperity, peace and blessings upon the kingdom.
