CSU undertakes ILP verification drive

Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU), under the directive of Naga Students’ Federation, undertook Inner Line Permit (ILP) verification of all non locals residing within Chakhesang jurisdiction from June 17 to 18.
In a press note, general secretary, CSU, Nuvokho Rhakho, stated that the union detected 25 ILP defaulters during its first phase. The defaulters were reportedly handed over to the administration for deportation and necessary action.  The union stated that the second phase of checking would take place any time.
CSU also noted that the responsibility of checking of illegal immigrants should not be solely that of student bodies and maintained that the public must play a vital role in solving the menace in their respective jurisdictions.
In this regard the union has appealed to all the public, especially the guarantors, to be more vigilant and verify documents of non-locals before submission of their documents to the administration for processing.
CSU also stated it detected several shortcomings/loopholes from the administration on issuing ILPs, the union said it would be submitting its findings and suggestion to the district administration for better coordination and implementation.
