Tuensang and its adjoining areas were jolted on Saturday night as a result of an earthquake having a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale. A large number of people came out of their homes. There were no reports of loss of any life or property. According to reports, the epicenter was located at 25.76, 95.199, 67.2 km from Tuensang along the India-Myanmar border at a depth of 88 km. A strong 6.8 magnitude earthquake had struck northeast India on January 4 this year, sending panicked residents fleeing into the streets.
