
Phek Police personnel’s of all ranks under superintendent of police Phek was sensitized on the Cigarettes & Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003 and given awareness on the harmful effects of tobacco on June 1 at the office of SP Phek conducted by National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) Phek.
During the programme, nodal officer (NTCP) Dr.Reyosalu Lase Vizo, while speaking as the resource person sensitized the police personnel on the different sections and penalty under COTPA act, where they play an important role in the implementation of the act and will take active part in the tobacco enforcement squad in the district.
Through power point presentation, he also imparted the participants on the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and poisonous substances contain in tobacco etc.
SP Phek, Rukewelo Mero in his short briefing deliberated the gatherings that if “we” have strong determination one does not need any therapy to quit tobacco.
Altogether 67 police personnel’s, SP Phek, Rukewelo Mero, SDPO Phek, Velule and Addl.SP Phek, Josheph Thongliu attended the program.
