Advisor Tourism and Art & Culture H. Khehovi inaugurated the new building of T-Island Government High School on Tuesday morning.
Speaking at the function Khehovi recalled his schooling days at the school. “It is God’s will that after decades, I have come here as an MLA to inaugurate this upgraded school,” he remarked.
He urged the teachers and the student community to utilise the facilities provided by the Government and also appealed to the villagers to treat these facilities as their own asset.
He lauded the PDA Government for doing away with VIP culture and said that he personally did not appreciate VIP culture at all. “Every human being is a VIP and we are all equals in the eyes of God,” he said adding “the only difference between you and me is the responsibilities vested in me by my constituency to represent you in the Nagaland state government.”
The advisor called upon the gathering to always feel free to share their problems and grievances not as a VIP but as a father, brother, or a friend. He challenged the students by announcing cash rewards for anyone securing a position in the top 20 from the school. Khehovi also thanked the contractor Hekiye Chophy for quality workmanship in his execution of the building construction.

AKHAKHU VILLAGE: A thanks giving prayer service for Advisor Tourism and Art & Culture H. Khehovi was held at his native village Akhakhu under Asuto block on Tuesday in the presence of his supporters, Church leaders, GBs and elders.
Addressing the gathering, Khehovi attributed his victory to God and thanked the electorates of Suruhuto and Asuto area for enabling him to win a comprehensive victory. He lauded the elders and youth of the area for ushering in a change in electioneering process in Suruhuto area and expressed hope that this trend would continue in future elections as well.
He said that the people of Suruhuto area had gone to the polls with the slogan “Change in system, change in leadership” and said that this was in line with the PDA government’s “Change is coming.” He however said that this change could not be brought about by a single individual but it needed the participation of the entire populace.
Maintaining that transparency and accountability would be his leadership’s sole priority, the BJP legislator said that he had set a goal of “Vision 2023” and that all developmental works to be undertaken in the area would be undertaken phase-wise. Khehovi said that a “think-tank” of bureaucrats, intellectuals and public leaders would be formed to assist in various developmental works.
