NEISSR conducted a training programme on résumé writing and also conducted mock interviews on April 11 at Peace Channel conference hall with director of The People’s Channel, Rozelle Mero, as resource person.
A press release from NEISSR stated that Mero highlighted the general disregard of employees in the governmental, private and non-governmental organizations, that the employees tends to overlook themselves as working for other people or other’s businesses. She urged the trainees to be proactive and responsible in any job and consider the job or task as one’s own business. A drawback in the work culture is that most people cannot identify the difference between a ‘job’ and a ‘career’, she stated. Mero said we should clearly understand that a job is a short-term work one does for life’s sustenance; however, a ‘career’ is a life-time passion and commitment one follows for life. She further suggested that the trainees look forward to what they could contribute to the field rather than, salaries or how much one can learn.
Practical sessions on professional etiquettes, grooming, presentation in interview and mock-interviews were also conducted. The training programme also discussed Curriculum Vitae (CVs), Résumés and bio-data writing.
The programme was chaired by Nepuni Paul Kolakhe while vote of thanks was delivered by Julie Litsase.
