Strong wind that swept over Merangkong village under Mokokchung district Friday night damaged several houses and cut-off power supply.
According to a member of the village council, two houses were completely damaged while many of the houses were partially damaged.
According to SDO (C) Tuli, Arikumba said that soon after receiving the news, the district administration rushed to the village and took immediate measures by informing the Electrical department about two electrical poles that were damaged and power lines being snapped.
Later, the district administration officials along with the village council extend help to the affected families. There was no report of injuries or loss of life, he added. Altogether, seven houses were partially damaged, while Anganwadi Centre was completely damaged, the SDO said.
