Students from different schools demonstrated various innovative models on the occasion of Nation science day which was observed on the theme, “Raise Public Appreciation on Scientific Issues for the Development of Nation” on March 29.
According to DIPR report, the event was observed by students of Mokokchung and Peren districts.
In Mokokchung, assistant Prof. Nagaland University, Dr. Neizo Puro graced the event as guest speaker.
Altogether 20 students, representing different schools, demonstrated their models where the first prize was bagged by Jubilee Memorial Higher Secondary School.
They demonstrated on the topic ‘working model on use of alcohol to produce electricity’. Queen Mary Higher Secondary School on the topic, “roof top farming in future cities” secured the second position while Town Higher Secondary School on, “conversion of waste to electricity and heat” finished in third position.
In Peren, the programme held at town hall was graced by EAC Tsidi Hairang as chief guest.
Highlighting the objective of observing the day, the EAC said National Science day is being celebrated across India to harness the scientific temper among the young generation. Stating that science need people who were more interested in questioning and reasoning, he encouraged the students to adopt themselves with the modern technology.
The programme was chaired by DDEO Peren, L. Toshimenla Imchen while special number was presented by GMS DC Colony and vote of thanks delivered by SDEO Peren, Zuponi.
