While maintaining that freedom of speech and expression as enshrined in the constitution came with responsibility, Ao Senden said it was aware that certain section and individuals indulged in slander by irresponsible utterances.
Ao Senden president Imolemba Jamir and general secretary S.Panger Ao stated that the Senden was aware that certain sections and individuals slandered the Senden without any evidence or reason but it chose to be patient and not to be provoked.
The signatories said that as apex body of the Aos, the Ao Senden warned every individual or groups to be responsible in words and deeds while using social media and warned, that if anyone was found defaming and hatred on Ao Senden without facts, shall not be forgiven.
The Senden therefore urged every right thinking citizen to have matters clarified through dialogue in order to clear misapprehension and misunderstandings “without prejudice”.
“Irresponsible choosing of words with emotional sediments has caused great chaos and social restlessness at this present juncture,” said Ao Senden. Further, Ao Senden declared that any individual or groups involved in such deeds in the social media networks would be sternly dealt with as per Ao custom.
