Capacity building on FLC held at Chedema

Nagaland Rural Bank (NRB), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Nagaland State Social Welfare Board (NSSWB) in collaboration with the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) conducted a financial literacy and other livelihood project at Malo-o stadium, Chedema on March 29.
Branch manager, NRB, Kohima, Manoj Chetri who stressed on financial literacy elaborated on various schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana etc. He said all these schemes were connected to the bank’s account, it was necessary to maintain a bank account.  Assistant manager, NRB, Kohima, Luviheno Punyu explained about the processes of opening a bank account and also about the LPG subsidy. Assistant general manager, NABARD, Bendang Aier also encouraged the villagers to have a healthy relationship with the banks. He said that the banks were there to help them but they have to participate in the banking processes by maintaining the habit of saving in the banks. Dispelling the myth that “your money is not safe with the bank”, he said that RBI regulates the activity of the banks so if they deposit their money in the bank they would not only be saving but they would also get interest. He further highlighted the livelihood interventions such as dairy and piggery that NABARD has been implementing through SHGs and JLGs.
Nari Ki Caupal, an interactive session with the women SHGs was conducted. Forms for opening bank accounts were also distributed. Village council chairman, Sabeituo,Mechülho  proposed the vote of thanks.
