One NSCN (I-M) activist was apprehended by troops 37 Assam Rifles during an operation at Ward No-1, Chumukedima town on March 22.
According to PRO Assam Rifles, the operation was carried out based on information regarding presence of an armed NSCN (I-M) cadre involved in extortion/arms peddling activities in Chumukedima area.
PRO said the arrested was identified as Kivipu Swu (33). One .22 pistol, eight rounds of assorted live ammunition and one Kenwood radio set recovered from his possession.
Later, the arrested person along with the recovered items was handed over to Diphupar Police Station, PRO said.
